The NED University of Engineering & Technology is a Government Sector institute situated in the Karachi, Sind.  The premier and good engineering university in Pakistan.

The engineering trend in the country started to decline, with 80% fewer students participating in the NED entrance test than last year.

The results of the aptitude test conducted by NED University of Engineering and Technology for the admissions of the new academic session 2023 have been released.

The data of the results revealed that the trend of obtaining engineering education among male and female students has decreased significantly.

The number of students applying for NED admissions this year has reduced by almost 80% compared to last year.

According to the official data of the university, 8364 male/female candidates have participated in the entrance test this year, while last year's number was around 14,500. Admissions are given on the basis of Inter-year 1st results.

In the past years, the number of those applying for admission in various fields of engineering has been around 12,000, and the ratio of successful students in the NED entrance test is 55 percent. While in the test, the best result of 63% of the government education boards of Sindh was Karachi Board, while none of the other education boards of Sindh has been able to give more than 25% results.

On the other hand, NED University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tufail Ahmed says that it is "alarming" for us too that why the number of candidates has suddenly decreased so much. He said that some experts believe that now the trend of students' education in engineering fields is decreasing and students are going to other fields.

Dr. Tufail also said that this year the number of applicants in Dawood Engineering University and Mehran University has also been low and we will also conduct research in this regard.
