 National Highway Authority and Motorway Police ( NH&MP) recently announced a new system to stop drivers from traffic violations, over seeping, improper maintenance of vehicles, Poor Lightning, Lane violations, Overloading, etc. Hashtag #NoMore Violation is being promoted on social media like Twitter, Facebook, etc for the awareness of the general public who want to use motorways for their journey.

The New Inspector General of the NH&MP has taken new steps for strict enforcement of traffic rules and regulations. Some of which are as below:

Mobile Spotters: 

The motorway personnel with special binoculars (Doorbeen) and other instruments are being placed across the whole motorways and Highways to spot the violators and then report to the nearby Mobile ant violation staff who then approach the vehicle and issue the ticket.

Challan: 

The amount of Challan has been reviewed and increased to minimize road violations.

Demerit Point system: 

Over speed limit for the Driver of LHVs is 120 in General but with the advanced model and development in the car engine, one can reach a high speed of 200km/h in a 6-10 seconds which is fascinating for the youth but much much dangerous for themselves and other peoples moving on the road. This was a need of the Hour to introduce some system to curb these violations and save passengers' lives and minimize road  traffic accidents. 

Many countries have adopted the Demerit Point system as a penalty for violators.  

There is a long list of these violations which are mentioned below in the pictures. Each violation offenses has certain points for a one-time violation.  

Driving license can be suspended?

If you committed offenses 3-4 times and awarded Demerit points of 20 in 2 years then your license can be suspended for many months for at least 60 days. 

Remember: you cannot drive on the road without a valid license. If you do then you will be penalised for 10 Demerit points.

Causing an accident that results in 

1. Death                                   15
2. Severe Body injury             10
3. Minor Body Injury               8
4. Property Damage                 6 

Failing to stop the occurrence of an accident:       10

Driving with a Suspended License:                       10

Overloading passengers vehicle:              6 

Driving without a licensed driving for a valid vehicle: 6 

Driving under influence of drug or alcohol:             8 

Failure to observe the Traffic signal : 

1. Red Light.            6
2. Amber Light        4 

Driving in speed in excess of permission when the limit is 40km/h :             4 

Overtaking Dangerously:             6

Reckless Driving:              6 

Failure to stop when ordered by a police person in uniform:             6

Driving wrong way on one way road:             6

Failure to stop at a stop sign:             6

Improper crossing of Railway track:             4

Driving at night Without proper lights:             4

Driving a vehicle without proper authority:          4 

Taking prohibited U-TURN:             2

Driving with the rear screen  covered:             2

Failing to dip highlights for other traffic:          2

Jumping traffic Queue:             2

Following too closely or cutting in too sharply:             2
